#2 Atsushi Nakajima “The Moon Over the Mountain”
中島敦 『山月記』
Everybody in Japan knows of Nakajima because one of his stories is a must read at school. It is called “Sangetsuki” (“The Moon Over the Mountain”), which is a Kafkaesque story in which the protagonist turns into a tiger at the end of the story.
For Manga enthusiasts, the main protagonist of Bungo Stray Dogs is Atsushi Nakajima (Yes, it’s him!), whose special ability is apparently to turn into a tiger when he looks at the moonlight (Correct me if I’m wrong!) I would recommend either one for people who haven’t read any of his works. He is a superb writer.
